Teacher Self-Care 101
Though many say they give respect to the teachers in their life, it’s hard to actually understand the severity and the volume of stress they must process on a daily basis. It’s more than just the grade level that they teach, or the number of students that make up their class. Though this will certainly play a part in the demand they must meet in their classrooms, the truth is providing for students at all can be one of the most taxing things on both the body and the mind. Most teachers have a hard time turning it off and will continue to work even off the clock. This is likely one of the reasons why they experience the burnout that they do. It’s imperative that they be able to slip back into their own lives once they leave the classroom for the night. This is often accomplished through self-care. Unfortunately, schools won’t provide instruction for this, so teachers will have to develop a plan on their own. Luckily, with the information found within the resource accompanying this post, any teacher can build out a self-care routine that will leave them feeling refreshed after a long day’s work in the classroom.
